Talaat Captan is the founder of Air Hollywood Props and of Air Hollywood, the aviation-themed film studio in Los Angeles.
Why an aviation prop house
When Captan founded Air Hollywood in 1998, after producing the aviation thriller Ground Control, he quickly learned that a convincing airplane scene depends on the details: the right seats, galley carts, trolleys, signage, safety cards and uniforms. Real aviation parts are hard to find and new components are expensive, so he began collecting and preserving them. That collection became Air Hollywood Props.
Preserving aviation history
Many items in the collection come from retired aircraft and airlines that no longer fly. Pieces such as original Pan Am seats, complete with logo seatbelts, are kept in working order so productions can use them on screen, and some have found a second life in the Pan Am Experience, which Captan also created.
Serving productions
Air Hollywood Props supplies film, television, commercial and photo productions, both on Air Hollywood’s own sets and on location. Browse the prop catalog or see the studio’s sets at Air Hollywood.
Captan is currently also part of the leadership team reviving Pan American World Airways. Read more at talaatcaptan.com.
